Adorno, Theodor Wiesengrund

Theordor Wiesengrund Adorno (1903-1969) is one of the most famous exponents of the critical theory, a non-transcendental philosophy that practices interdisciplinary crossovers with sociology, psychoanalysis, etc. and is rooted in the Institut für Sozialforschung, the so-called Frankfurt School. He was also a composer and musicologist and studied with Alban Berg. He went into exile in the United States in 1938 because of the anti-Jewish laws. He returned to Germany after the war, where his uncompromising positions left their mark on intellectual life and his relations with students. His main works are “Dialectic of Enlightement” (1947, with Max Horkheimer), “Minima Moralia. Reflections from Damaged Life” (1944-1949), “Negative Dialectics” (1966), “Aesthetic Theory” (published posthumously, 1970).
